1950
D. Blaine Watts Painting and Paperhanging was founded by Donald Uhrig Jr.’s grandfather, who established a company dedicated to quality craftsmanship in paperhanging, staining, pressure washing, and painting. Don joined the family business at 18, building onto the legacy of quality and commitment to customer satisfaction.
1986
Following his grandfather’s tradition, Don founded Uhrig’s Professional Painting and Paperhanging, a company specializing in residential interior and exterior painting, paperhanging, and pressure washing.
1988
When D. Blaine Watts retired, the legacy of his business was bought by Don, who incorporated it into Uhrig’s Painting. In doing so, he carried forward his grandfather’s values of honesty and integrity.
1995
Seeking to expand into the commercial and industrial markets, the company purchased Hannahoe Painting. This move was followed a year later by the acquisition of William Eckert Contracting, further broadening our capabilities.
1997
To accommodate the company’s significant growth, Uhrig acquired new headquarters located at 1700 N. 5th Street in Reading, Pennsylvania. Transforming the old Coca Cola Bottling Plant into Uhrig Enterprises.
2001
To better serve our commercial, industrial, and residential painting clients, Uhrig Construction was incorporated in January 2001, expanding its capabilities to meet the growing demand for construction services.
2025
This year, we proudly mark 75 years of business, a special occasion we dedicate to our founder, D. Blaine Watts. The ongoing success of our three companies is a direct result of the talent and dedication of our more than 65 employees. We look forward to building on this foundation for many more years to come, as the next generation of leadership is introduced into the company.
